Agenda Bitney College Preparatory High School Charter Council Monthly Meeting Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2009 6pm Place: 135 Joerschke Drive, Grass Valley 1. Call to Order 2. Roll Call 3. Approval of Agenda 4. Public Forum: Members of the public are invited to address the Council at the beginning of each meeting regarding possible issues for future agendas, or to speak to a subject not on the agenda. The Council cannot discuss or take action on non-agendized items, but such items may be agendized for discussion and/or action at a later Council meeting. 5. Approval of Minutes: Discussion / Action. Review and approve minutes from last month’s meeting(s). 5 minutes 6. Board Member: Sue Hudson is our new charter council parent rep – welcome and introductions. 7. Consent Agenda: Action. Shall the items on the consent agenda be approved? 5 minutes 7.1 Warrants. Approval of school warrants. 7.2 Principal's Report: Information. The Principal's report (attached) covers administrative, facilities, and Nevada County Charter Cooperative issues. 8. Future facility. Discussion / Action. 5 minutes 9. Policy: Independent Study. Information / Discussion / Action. In order to allow independent study programs, such as the “Finding The Good” program, our charter petition needs to be amended to allow for independent study program. Consider, discuss and potentially approve an amendment to our charter petition. 10 minutes 1 10. Policy: Bitney Bistro Discussion / Action. Discuss Parent Council approved policy for healthy food and snacks at Bitney (see below). 10 minutes 11. Planning: Discussion / Action. A) Review comments on school vision statement (attached), revise for further comments. B) Review/update key objectives and action plan drafts from planning session; form teams to carry out the action plans. 30 minutes 12. NJUHSD Letter. Information / Discussion / Action. Review, discuss and approve a response to the latest NU letter. 10 Minutes. 13. Parent Council Report: Information. A parent council representative will update us on issues concerning the parents and the Parent Council. 5 minutes 14. Dean's Report: Information. The Dean's report covers marketing, enrollment, curriculum, graduation requirements, standardized testing, student schedules, etc. 5 minutes 15. Student Government Report: Information. Russ Hooper will update us on issues concerning the student body and student government. 5 minutes 16. Future Agenda Items: Discussion. We will consider which topics deserve consideration for upcoming meetings. 5 minutes 17. Next Meeting: Discussion / Action.
